个人简介

Albert Fert, French scientist who, with Peter Grünberg, received the 2007 Nobel Prize for Physics for his independent codiscovery of giant magnetoresistance.

Fert received master's degrees in mathematics and physics from the École Normale Supérieure in Paris in 1962. He earned a doctorate in physical science from the Université Paris-Sud in 1970 and was made a professor there in 1976. He served as research director for the university's condensed-matter physics laboratory (1970–95) before moving to Unité Mixte de Physique—a laboratory jointly operated by the Université Paris-Sud and the technology firm Thales. He is a also a professor at School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering, Beihang University.
